Welcome! |
|
Due to the rising costs of printing and the decrease in advertising
revenue, it is with regret that I inform you of our intention to
retire the Engineering Professional magazine. It has been difficult to
maintain the advertising levels necessary to support a printed publication.
The goal is to continue to provide the you with the latest association
and industry news through an electronic newsletter called WSPE E-News.
WSPE E-News will be replacing the current printed publication, Engineering
Professional Magazine.
Each issue of WSPE E-News will contain chapter news, membership information,
and industry updates. Editorial plans also include 1 - 2 articles per issue.
The WSPE E-News will be archived for member reference on the WSPE Web site,
www.wspe.org. If you have news that you
would like to include in an upcoming issue of WSPE E-News please email it to
our publisher Denise Rockhill.
Denise may also be reached at 414-908-4950 ext. 109.
February's issue of WSPE E-News contains updates on the 2006 Governor's New
Product Awards and the 2006 WSPE Discovery Conference coming up April 13 & 14.
I hope to see you there.
Regards,
Dale Chlebowski
WSPE President

2006 WSPE Discovery Conference - April 13 & 14 SC Grand, Green Bay |
|
On April 13 and 14, 2006 WSPE will be teaming up with the Fox River Valley ISA
(Instrumentation, Systems and Automation) Vendor show. The ISA show will take place
during the day Thursday, followed by the Governor’s New Product Awards banquet
Thursday night. The WSPE Discovery conference will take place during the day on
Friday, and then a Frank's Dinner Theatre show that Friday night. The entire
SC Grand (two ballrooms, Frank's Dinner Theatre, the bar room, and the tent
pavilion) is reserved for these two days.
Dale Swenson at Harley Davidson has sent out the GNPA application notices and
posted them to the WSPE web site. We are hoping to get vendors interested in
applying for the ISA show, and also attending the GNPA banquet in the evening.
In the past, ISA has had over 80 vendors set up booths and over 200 people
attend, and this year it will be coordinating the speakers for the Thursday
presentations. There is no charge for the vendor show on Thursday.
WSPE is in charge of the Friday event, and the Fox River Valley Chapter will
be hosting. We are communicating with other area societies to get the ISA Vendor
show/WSPE Discovery Conference announcement out. We are also working on getting
presentations for Friday and a key note speaker during the luncheon awards on
Friday. The WSPE Annual meeting will also occur on Friday.
Dave Ozarowicz, PE
Discovery Conference Chairperson

MATHCOUNTS Update |
|
MATHCOUNTS (a nationwide math enrichment, coaching, and competition program)
is the only national program of its kind for middle school students. The 2004-2005
MATHCOUNTS competition season attracted more than 37,000 registered competitors
from over 6,000 schools nationwide, but over 500,000 students benefit from the
use of MATHCOUNTS materials in their classrooms each year. More than 17,000
individuals volunteer nationwide.
Each year, MATHCOUNTS develops and distributes a complimentary copy of the
annual MATHCOUNTS School Handbook to every U.S. middle school. Meeting the
NCTM (National Council of Teachers of Mathematics) standards for grades 6-8,
thousands of teachers look forward to the handbook’ s arrival. Materials
emphasize teamwork and practical problem solving. Using the materials,
student Mathletes® train to represent their school at a local MATHCOUNTS
competition. Winning students advance to state and national competitions.
If you would like more information, or would like to become a MATHCOUNTS
volunteer, contact Lauran Larson at 715-552-7374 or Norm Arendt at 608-270-5364. Or join the national “Volunteer Network”
at www.mathcounts.org.
